My name is Misha. I was born and raised in a small town in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa called Grahamstown. This town is home to Rhodes University where I studied my Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees. The Faculty of Pharmacy was basically my second home in town, as I was there every day (apart from holidays) for 6 years.

The reason why I decided to study pharmacy is because I was inspired by my father. He is a pharmacologist and also lectured at Rhodes University for many years. When I was very young and after my dad picked me up from school, he would take me into his lecture rooms and I would sit at the back and watch him lecture his students on various topics, such as the human brain. I found every session so fascinating at the age of 5-years old. I remember repeating that I want to do my Masters degree and PhD in pharmacy. I wanted to be just like him! Fast-forward to years later, my father actually became Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy in my third year and he lectured me for one and a half years. It was a great and rare experience.

Somehow I think his passion for pharmacy got passed down into my genes, because I am so passionate about the profession.
